Author Talk: Cincinnati Before Stonewall

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Erlanger Branch

Description

Join us for a presentation on the untold queer history of Cincinnati by local author and Kenton County Public Library employee, Jacob Hogue. Drawing on years of archival research, newspaper accounts, court records, and personal stories, Jacob's new book Cincinnati Before Stonewall: The Untold Queer History of the Queen City uncovers the rich and often overlooked LGBTQ+ history of the Queen City from the early 1800s through 1969. The book explores queer life, community formation, resistance, and survival long before the modern gay rights movement—revealing how Cincinnati’s LGBTQ+ residents shaped the city’s cultural, social, and political landscape despite criminalization, censorship, and erasure. Following the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and have their books signed.

Pizza lunch from Snappy Tomato Pizza will be provided to those registered.
